Melanie is teaching at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences in the field of socioeconomics in private households and companies. Previously, she was a substitute professor at the University Paderborn and employed at the Wuppertal Institute as a research unit leader and project manager. She completed her doctorate at the university in 2015 on the topic of consumption and self-sufficiency in German households.
Her main research focus is based on quantitative and qualitative assessment of sustainability especially in nutrition and service systems.
