Summary of Opportunity and Scope of Work

The Healthy Food, Healthy Planet Initiative is seeking an experienced program manager to support the Healthy Food, Healthy Planet Initiative. The program manager will work closely with the HFHP Director to execute the initiative’s vision and goals. They will also work closely with the Coordination and Delivery Team – a group of funders contributing to the pooled fund that supports the initiative – to ensure alignment of the initiative with that group’s needs.

Europe – remote


The program manager will provide support services to the Healthy Food, Healthy Planet Initiative, including:

  • Developing, socializing, and maintaining a project workplan and timeline for the year
  • Supporting communications for the initiative by tracking historic and future outreach, maintaining contact databases with a wider CSO group, developing communications materials as needed, and other appropriate communications as scoped by the director
  • Ensuring completion of all tasks in a timely manner, with appropriate and necessary documentation
  • Scheduling calls, organizing documents, and maintaining the administrative functions of the HFHP Initiative
  • Providing support to other functions of the HFHP Initiative, as deemed necessary by the director
  • Working closely with a small team made up of the Director and other part-time contractors


The program manager’s contract will be with Healthy Food, Healthy Planet host organization, which is currently hosted by the ClimateWorks Foundation. The initial contract will extend for twelve months, beginning in October 2021 (or as soon as possible in 2021). During this period, the Initiative will seek out a permanent host implementation organization. The program manager’s contract will be migrated to the permanent implementation host as soon as possible. The contract will have the opportunity for renewal in late 2022, dependent on ongoing funding and performance.

Evaluation Criteria

We will consider the following qualifications in evaluating viable candidates to interview for this role:

  • At minimum, 3 years of project management experience including planning, resourcing, allocating budget, monitoring and reporting
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral
  • Experience working with pan-European advocacy movements, ideally civil society-led
  • Experience handling databases and complying with GDPR and other data privacy requirements
  • Experience working within an advocacy organization preferred, ideally in related fields such as climate, biodiversity, health, nutrition, labor, or animal welfare
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to cope with pressure and deliver to deadlines
  • Able to work well and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Willingness to be flexible and assist with other functions as part of a small team
