Connect to Us
An emerging Pan-European movement uniting civil society organisations (CSOs) and funders by a shared vision: healthy, just and sustainable food environments. We started in 2020, based on a sense of urgency that Europe’s excessive animal-sourced food consumption is harming people and our planet and hence needs to change. In 2021, we co-created with over 150 different voices a HFHP Strategic Framework, embracing a more regenerative, healthy and equitable approach to food environments. In 2022, a small Coordination Team (made up thus far of a Director/ Chief Weaver serving the CSO Movement, a Fund Manager to manage the Pooled Fund, and part-time Co-Creation Lead and Research/Writer) started with the ambitious task to weave to ‘life’ the framework.
Committed to co-create, connect and (co-)finance, we are cultivating trust, building new narratives, and cross-pollinating an ecosystem to bolster new collaborations in food environments. We want to:
For an emerging movement that is still finding its feet (or rather planting its seeds), the HFHP Programme Officer is an exciting new role, which will surely evolve as and when the movement does. The Programme Officer forms the linchpin between the Pooled Fund and the CSO movement and will support both team members as well as cross-pollinate wider constituencies.
Practically, it means that you will do the following:
On the CSO movement building side (average 3 days a week):
On the Pooled Fund side (average 2 days a week):
And to support both components, you will be:
Someone with strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, who is comfortable working in a small team and is able to work with a diverse group of people remotely. You are a multi-tasker who meets deadlines and adapts well to change -inevitable to an emerging movement.
You are compassionately curious, and use that curiosity to ask questions, write (or edit members’) articles and to reflect on the bigger picture! You have affinity with the objectives of HFHP (including a future for some (and better) animal-sourced foods) and have worked with campaigns and/or movements in Europe. You have worked with or developed a nimble social media approach.
Other skills and experiences you bring – in addition to your whole authentic self- are:
A chance to be part of something big, where diversity, creativity and #beautifultrouble is welcomed and embraced! With some opportunity for travel within Western Europe, engaging more deeply with local civil society. And a chance to take your starting career to the next level,
A movement like Healthy Food, Healthy Planet not only cherishes but celebrates differences between people; as all those differences help us build more collective power, much needed for the journey ahead of us! So whoever you are, you are most welcome! And any reasonable accommodation we need to make you feel extra at home we are open to.
Please note that HFHP is currently hosted by the European Public Health Alliance, based in Brussels, so you will formally be employed or contracted by EPHA.
We are able to offer a one-year contract with possibility of extension (funding permitted). The salary is within a range of 45,000 – 47,000 Euros gross/annum plus generous benefits. It is important to note that if you are a resident in Belgium we are able to offer a full-time employment contract but we are also open to a consultancy-based contract in other countries in Western Europe (preferably Netherlands, Germany, UK or France). In the latter case we will be able to offer you a fee that is equivalent to the salary plus benefits. In all cases you are mainly working from your home, a preferred co-working space or at an HFHP member’s office.
If this role excites you (and it should!), please submit a CV and letter, explaining what makes you a perfect Programme Officer to info@healthyfoodandplanet.org. We are reviewing applications on a rolling basis so apply early or latest by the 24th of June. Please title your email “Your Name –Programme Officer Application.” If you would like an informal conversation to find out more please contact Marinke.vanriet@healthyfoodandplanet.org
